rt is one of the most profound, personal, and creative ways to express an infinite amount of emotions and ideas. It encourages us to learn about ourselves through its alchemical process of creation, and to discover and appreciate the magical universe we live in. My name is Pablo Tapia (M Phil Fine Arts); I am a visual artist living in Newcastle NSW. I specialise in the Australian Tonal Impressionist tradition with emphasis in the Max Meldrum Method applied to oil portraits and still life art. I also focus on the application and teaching of Old Master Techniques, particularly the Flemish Baroque approach.
For me painting is a contemplative and transformative experience. It has been a guiding light to find my way back to Spirit, an opportunity to share deep emotions, knowledge, and beauty with others. To add joy, inspiration, and wonder to their lives.
I am fortunate to have a solid art foundation and varied artistic training. Studies in Old Masters techniques gave me a love for the materiality and skills involved in fine art making. And from my training in the unique Australian Tonal Impressionist tradition I developed a keen interest in the playful nature of light and shapes which can be found in all observed subject matter; from humble everyday objects, intimate portraits, to the constantly changing landscape. This training also allows me to give expression to my inner symbolic world with fluidity and craftsmanship.
Therefore I hope you find through these works as much joy as I do when looking into the eyes of another unique and beautiful human being, and that you enjoy the magic of everyday objects exuding gentleness and love to remind us that the simplest of things can be the most wonderful. I invite you to look at the humble doodles and sketches, the beginnings of my creative process, and imaginative works which symbolically talk of hidden meanings and personal inner forces.
